How to Make Bed Frames for an air mattress

For building bedframes for an air mattress, you will need sheets of plywood to create a platform bed.

And there is no need for a box spring for your platform bed.

With basic tools and gears, you can easily create a bedframe for your air mattress in simple steps.

Step 1: Take Plywood & Measure, Mark, and Cut (Building Legs of the Bedframe)

Take a plywood board & measure and mark a line at 6 feet, 9 inches on two of the 2-by-4-inch boards.

And now cut at the mark with a circular saw.

Again mark a line on four of 2 by 4 inches boards after measuring to 4 feet, 9 inches then cut the board.

After this cut each of the 4 by 4-inch boards into half after measuring and marking the line 3 feet down.

Once you do this, then you will end up with six 4 by 4 inches boards which are 3 feet long.

And these are the legs of the bed frame.

Step 2: Building a Base

Draw a rectangular on your plywood board which is 6 feet long, and 9 by 5 inches rectangular.

You can use a level to draw the lines straight.

And then cut out the rectangular with a circular saw.

This will create the base for queen sized air mattress.

You can create the base for your air mattress depending on the size of your air mattress.

Step 3: Smoothen & Paint the Wood

Now sand the edges of the cut lumbar until it becomes smooth.

And if you don’t like the look of unfinished wood then you paint the wood depending upon the color of your choice.

And then allow to air dry properly.

Step 4: Build Outside of the Frame

Lay the two long 2 by 4 inches pieces so you can cut on their short edges so they can stand up.

And lay them parallel to each other,

Now lay the shorter 4-by-inch board on its short edges in between the longer pieces.

And drive three 4-inch wood screws through the outside of the long boards into the ends of the shorter boards to hold the frames together.

Step 5: Measure & Screw

Now, measure 27 inches from each end to end and mark the longer pieces.

And place the two remaining 2 by 4-inch boards on the short edges inside the frame at the marks.

Now drive three 4-inch wood screws through the outside of the frame into the ends of the interior support beam.

And after that place a 4 by 4-inch board inside each corner of the bed frame. And drive two 4-inch wood screws through the outside of each 2 by 4 board at the corners into the 4 by 4 boards.

Now measure 40 ½ inches down the long side of the frame and mark the spot.

And center a 4 by 4 leg on each side of the bed and screw them in a place with two 4-inch wood screws each.

Step 6: Final Step

Once all these steps are done, now turn the frame over onto its leg, and lay the plywood on the top of the bed frame.

After this drive a 2 ½ inch wood screw through the plywood into the wood frame every 6 inches,

And secure it to the support beams across the center of the frame as well.
